Local
History
Many
towns
and
villages
have
enthusiast
or
societies
that are
researching
into
their
community
history.
A DVD is
probably
the best
and most
cost
effective
way of
display
your
findings
and
images
to the
people
of the
area.
We
produced
Memories
of Luton
Village
in Kent
back in
2002 as
a video
and we
have
recently
updated
on to a
DVD
which is
still
selling
well at
a price
of £15.
We are
currently
involved
in the
editing
and the
production
of 1000
DVDs as
well as
filming
support
for
local
history
group in
a
marshland
village
in
Lincolnshire.
Old and
archive
photographs
and
documents
can be
captured
and
converted
for
incorporating
in the
DVD
along
with
video of
buildings
and
places
of
interest
still
around
today. A
great
source
for
information
is
Interviews
with
people
of the
community
especially
the
memories
of the
older
generation
that
will
soon be
lost for
ever if
not
recorded.
Depending
on the
amount
of
filming,
editing,
graphic
work
involved
the
overall
cost for
a
project
producing
1000
DVDs is
likely
to be
around
£3 to £4
per DVD.
Most
Local
History
DVDs
sell for
between
£10 and
£19.95
and
there
are many
opportunities
to
receive
subsidies
and
grants
for this
type of
project.
